Air strikes hit Syrian air base, state media report

Israel behind overnight airstrikes in Syria Russia says

Worldwide condemnation grew over a suspected poison gas attack in a rebel-held town near Damascus said to have been carried out by the Syrian government, while Syria and its main ally, Russia, blamed Israel for airstrikes on a Syrian air base that reportedly killed 14 people, including four Iranians.

"Either way, the United States will respond".

"But we can't let atrocities like we all witnessed. we can't let that happen in our world. especially when we're able to because of the power of the United States, the power of our country, we're able to stop it".

Monday's missile attack followed a suspected poison gas attack on Saturday on the last remaining foothold for the Syrian opposition in the eastern suburbs of Damascus. President Donald Trump has vowed to respond "forcefully" to Saturday's attack on civilians in the town of Douma, in the eastern Ghouta suburbs, and warned that Russian Federation - or any other nation found to share responsibility - will "pay a price".

USA officials told Reuters that Washington was weighing a multinational military response.

Both the USA and France had threatened a response over the suspected use of chemical weapons, with President Donald Trump and President Emmanuel Macron issuing a statement on Sunday vowing to "coordinate a strong, joint response".

Macron and Trump had again reiterated their desire for a "strong reaction" from the global community, Macron's office said.

Deutsche Bank boss John Cryan to step down
Sewing, 47, is now a vice president at Germany's biggest bank and head of its private and commercial banking division. The division employed more than 41,000 staff at the end of 2017, up 4 percent from 2015, but key staff have left.

President Trump also condemned the Iranian regime and the Putin government for their support of the Assad regime.

Two days later, Trump ordered an attack on the Syrian military base from which the chemical weapons were believed to have been launched.

"There was no chemical weapons attack", Nebenzia told the U.N. Security Council, according to Reuters.

Moscow said some 8,000 fighters and 40,000 civilians would be bussed out and said that proved "no chemical weapons were used in this area".

Britain and the United States agreed on Monday that the attack bore the hallmarks of previous chemical weapons attacks by Assad's government, but neither country gave details of what kind of chemical might have been used or how the attack was staged.

The White House walked back those claims a little on Wednesday, with press secretary Sarah Sanders telling reporters the president isn't going "to put an arbitrary timeline" on withdrawal. "Yes, this is about the actions, the brutal actions by Assad and his regime". Israel does not typically comment on its operations in Syria, and it is unclear whether the missile attack was linked to the alleged use of chemical weapons. The U.S. threatened military action but later backed down. "He has challenged Assad in the past not to use chemical weapons".

SANA said the attack resulted in a number of casualties.

McGregor hasn't fought for UFC since November 2016 and was stripped this week of the 155-pound championship he had never defended. The group went down to the loading dock where some fighters who were to participate in Saturday's event were getting on buses .

The UN Security Council was holding an emergency meeting today to discuss the chemical attack. The Pentagon denies launching airstrikes on Syria.

Instead, they have in recent investigations gathered blood samples from victims and interviewed witnesses outside Syria.

Russian experts on the ground have found no evidence of sarin or chlorine use, said the ambassador, who offered Syrian and Russian assistance to allow investigators from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to travel to the site.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based monitor, said at least 14 people were killed including some fighters of various nationalities.

Israel is said to have carried out around 200 airstrikes on Hezbollah and Syrian targets inside Syria since the start of the war, according to The New Yorker's Robin Wright.

Three Iranians were killed in an air strike on a Syrian air base near Homs on Sunday, Iran's Fars news agency said, as Syria and its main ally Russian Federation blamed Israel for carrying out the attack. Defense analysts quoted by Reuters said there were deployments of Russian forces at the base.

Although the agency said it was likely "an American aggression", USA officials said the United States had not launched any airstrikes on Syria.
