ISIS Terrorist Sentenced To Life In Prison For New York Bombings

Since Rahimi’s arrest two other lone-wolf attackers have carried out bombings in New York

An unrepentant, homegrown Islamic terrorist was sentenced to multiple life terms behind bars Tuesday for that injured 31 people in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood as part of a planned wave of attacks across NY and New Jersey.

The first explosion, on September 17, occurred along the route of a charity 5K race in Seaside Park, New Jersey.

"One thing a life sentence does is to make sure you don't do it again", Berman said.

Judge Richard Berman looks on as Ahmed Rahimi stands during his sentencing, with his attorney Xavier Donaldson stands behind him.

The male driver, 50, was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A third vehicle was also involved when the Ferrari clipped a Toyota FJ SUV just before the crash.

"I don't harbour hatred towards anyone", Ahmad Khan Rahimi said in a courtroom packed with spectators, including some of the people who were injured when one of his bombs exploded on Sep.

Rahimi, a 30-year-old US citizen born in Afghanistan, said that he had been "harassed" by authorities while travelling because of his Muslim appearance after he started practicing the religion.

Rahimi said repeatedly during a 12-minute standing address to the court that he didn't harbor any hatred, but that his growing adherence to Islam caused him to face more harassment from Federal Bureau of Investigation agents at airports after returning to the USA from travel to the Dominican Republic, Manchester and Pakistan.

Federal prosecutors said in court papers that Rahami has not shown remorse and had tried to radicalize fellow prisoners at the federal jail in NY where he has been imprisoned since his arrest.

McMorris previously also won bronze in Sochi, also in slopestyle, while competing with a broken rib . The pair finished behind Redmond Gerard of the USA who won gold with his best score of 87.16.

Though Rahimi pleaded not guilty, a 12-person jury found him guilty of all eight counts.

One of the inmates Rahimi tried to radicalize was already in prison in prison facing charges of attempting to recruit for ISIS. He also ordered $562,803 in restitution. Sajmir Alimehmeti was transferred away from Rahimi after being caught with materials from Rahimi's court case, including a USB stick with bomb-making instructions, New York Post reported.

He said he considered Rahimi to be a danger to the community, citing the "hostile and threatening " nature of the bombings and the influence of "virulent anti-U.S." terrorist propaganda. "He failed", said Commissioner O'Neill.

Late a year ago, Rahimi began trying to radicalize prisoners at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, prosecutors say.
