A look at Facebook's changes over the years in what you see

Facebook is once again tweaking the formula it uses to decide what people see in their news feed to focus more on personal connections and take the spotlight off brands and news articles

With the prospect of making the Facebook's news feed and the time spent by users on the platform more meaningful, the network's founder shared his plan to revamp the working of News Feed.

Last week, Zuckerberg said his "personal challenge" for 2018 (something he's done every year since 2009), will be to fix Facebook.

"While we are a dominant news publisher on Facebook, we also employ strategies for diverse social media referral so as not to be dependent on any one source", said Ron Waksman, vice president of digital and editorial standards and practices for Global News and Corus Radio.

Facebook's revamping of the Feed is meant to ensure more "meaningful interaction" on the social network, Zuckerberg said in his post.

Facebook is once again tweaking what you see to focus more on personal connections and take the spotlight off brands and news articles.

The re-evaluated changes will allow the network to generate more "organic" posts which will allow the users to connect with the people they want to.

Police releases CCTV footage that may lead to Zainab's rapist-killer
Two people as demonstrators clashed with police in Kasur on Wednesday, hours before Zainab's funeral. Police, however, clarified that the man is only a "person of interest" as of now.

It's a big tweak and a bigger admission: that something is wrong with Facebook.

News outlets have frequently used social media to drive traffic to their sites in recent years, but some Canadian organizations say Facebook is just one piece in an increasingly varied puzzle.

The leading social networking site had gone public with the news feed change on Thursday, and the website's share value dropped by almost four percent before U.S. markets opened on Friday, reports the Independent.

A warning by Zuckerberg that people could spend less time on Facebook in the short term as a result of the changes sent the company's stock $8.29 lower to $179.47.

Shares of Menlo Park, California-based Facebook tumbled 4.5 percent on Friday in NY, cutting Zuckerberg's fortune to $74 billion on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

That's because even if people read such content on Facebook, they don't necessarily comment or interact with it in other ways. "People are actually going to spend less time on Facebook, but it suits us because it will make the time they spend more valuable and ultimately it will be good for our business". While Facebook has made plenty of changes to its news feed algorithm in the past, he said, this time might be different.

LA Man Charged in Kansas for Fatal Hoax Call
Police have said they believed Finch was armed when he moved his hands toward his waistband and then motioned toward officers. The false call made by Barriss is believed to have been the result of an online dispute between two Call of Duty players.

Facebook said that the changes will start rolling out within the next couple of months.

But the changes may spell trouble for the ecosystem of companies that have come to rely on Facebook's platform as a way to reach potential customers and readers.

Facebook was widely criticized for its passivity amid the avalanche of false information that invaded the feed of US users during the presidential elections of 2016. "We built Facebook to help people stay connected and bring us closer together with the people that matter to us", Zuckerberg posted on Facebook late on Thursday.

The company also faces pressure from regulators in the USA and overseas, and a growing backlash from academics, lawmakers and even early executives and investors about the ways in which social media may be leaving us depressed, isolated, bombarded by online trolls and addicted to our phones.

"The world feels anxious and divided, and Facebook has a lot of work to do - whether it's protecting our community from abuse and hate, defending against interference by nation states, or making sure that time spent on Facebook is time well spent", Zuckerberg wrote.
