LA Man Charged in Kansas for Fatal Hoax Call

Wichita police investigate a call near the corner of Mc Cormick and Seneca in Wichita Kan. Thursday Dec. 28

Barriss was arrested on a fugitive warrant in late December by Los Angeles police.

The California man accused of making a phony 911 call that led to the fatal police shooting of a 28-year-old man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Police in Wichita, Kan., charged Barriss with making a false alarm after someone called 911 with a similar shooting-and-kidnapping report at the home of Andrew Finch.

The man accused of placing a "swatting" call that led to the deadly officer-involved shooting in Wichita has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.

Terrorists are a disposable commodity in Pakistan and the Indian Army approach has been to ensure that it feels the pain, he said.

Wichita authorities picked up Tyler Barriss, 25, from the Men's Central jail in Los Angeles at 8:53 a.m.

Wichita police responded to that call and confronted Andrew Finch, 28.

Police have said they believed Finch was armed when he moved his hands toward his waistband and then motioned toward officers. But causing a false alarm is not among the "inherently risky felonies" listed under the state's felony-murder statute, so prosecutors sought the manslaughter charge instead, Bennett said during a phone interview.

Barriss has also been linked to swatting incidents in IL and New Hampshire, according to court records.

In May 2017, Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli called the supply of weapons to the Kurdish forces "unacceptable". The sources did not give any further detail.

The false call made by Barriss is believed to have been the result of an online dispute between two Call of Duty players.

Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett told reporters following the brief hearing that he is still reviewing whether any charges will be filed against the police officer, and once he makes a determination that decision would be made public.

The hoax call reportedly was made after a dispute over a small wager online in a "Call of Duty" online video game tournament, according to Dexerto, a news service focused on gaming.

Barriss was arrested by the LAPD this month and agreed to waive extradition and be taken to Kansas to face charges.
