Murray pulls out of Brisbane event with hip injury

The bleary-eyed British No 1 arrived after an unexpectedly busy day in Abu Dhabi

Murray has not played a competitive match since losing to Sam Querrey in the Wimbledon quarter-finals in July after a hip injury curtailed his 2017 season.

Murray said on Sunday he felt in great shape and that he was confident he would play in Brisbane.

When Andy Murray did not turn up for his scheduled practice slot yesterday at the Queensland Tennis Centre, it was inevitable that the planned comeback he has put in several months of extensive rehabilitation for was not going to be met.

Utah's Hatch to retire, opening door to possible Romney run
Senator Orrin Hatch abruptly announced his retirement Tuesday, which immediately had people speculating about his replacement. He also is president pro tempore of the Senate, which is in the presidential line of succession.

The 30-year-old British player plans to stay in Brisbane to continue preparations for the Australian Open, which starts January 15 in Melbourne and where he has been runner-up five times.

"I don't really cramp a lot, so I'm actually surprised that today my body was like that", Muguruza said, adding that her calf muscles started to cramp early in the second set.

"Firstly I want to apologise to @brisbanetennis for withdrawing at late notice and to everyone who wanted to come along to watch me play (or lose) The organisers couldn't have been more understanding and supportive and I'll always remember that". I genuinely miss it so much and i would give anything to be back out there.

Terrorists storm CRPF camp in J&K's Pulwama, jawan killed
The terrorists first lobbed grenades and then began indiscriminate firing and entered the training centre in Awantipora. According to emerging reports, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen hand suspected behind the attack.

Fifth-seeded Johanna Konta reached the quarterfinals with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Ajla Tomljanovic and Alize Cornet advanced with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.

Murray knows all about this, after coming back post back surgery a few years ago. "I wish him all the best to be ready to play the Australian Open". And although he has done everything he can to avoid surgery on what has now become a chronic hip issue, he seems to be at the point where he's considering it - even if, as he points out, there is no guarantee of a successful outcome.

He's not the only leading player trying to overcome injury, with top-ranked Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic also trying to recover in time for the Australian Open.
