Weinstein Hired 'Army of Spies' to Quash Accusations

Harvey Weinstein reportedly had a team of spies helping him stop harassment allegations

The publication reports Weinstein sought the assistance of ex-employees from his movie businesses to help in his efforts collecting names and placing calls and his lawyer, attorney David Boies.

One such investigator apparently intimated that she herself had an allegation against Weinstein in order to gain entree to journalists investigating the matter.

Weinstein has been kicked out of several Hollywood organizations, the latest which was the Television Academy, whose leadership voted Monday to ban the producer for life.

In addition, investigators working on Weinstein's behalf probed journalists' backgrounds in search of dirt that could be used to discredit them.

Cathay shares rally after Qatar Airways takes 9.6% stake
Investment holding company Kingboard said it would recognise a gain of HK$800 million on the sale of its entire Cathay stake. The investment is the latest in a series of acquisitions, all aimed at supporting Qatar Airways investment strategy.

Farrow reveals that Weinstein hired firms like Kroll, "one of the world's largest corporate-intelligence companies" and Black Cube, "An enterprise run largely by former officers of Mossad and other Israeli intelligence agencies" which, "offers its clients the skills of operatives "highly experienced and trained in Israel's elite military and governmental intelligence units".

The magazine report said that two operatives with Black Cube met with Rose McGowan, an American actress who accuses Weinstein of raping her, using fake identities - one as a women's rights advocate - and secretly recorded their conversations.

Neither Hofmeister nor Boies immediately responded to requests for comment.

The Television Academy says it is also speeding up a review of its code of conduct for members, and wants to provide clear protocols for workplace decency and respect. McGowan's growing sense that she was being spied upon by operatives who initially struck her as friendly people deepened her sense of paranoia.

Apple Pay Cash is available in iMessage to iOS 11.2 beta users
Apple iPhone users may have recently noticed their smartphone has a mind of its own - auto correcting the letter "I" while typing. Once the money arrives to the Apple Pay Cash card, it's immediately usable anywhere that accepts Apple Pay.

I asked Boies directly whether he hired investigators to impede the Times in 2004, as he did this year. Bill Keller, the Times's executive editor at the time, has said he does not recall such a meeting and defended the decision not to publish Waxman's findings as the result of Waxman's inability nail down sufficient evidence against Weinstein. McGowan told Farrow that the persistence of "Diana Filip" among other intimidation tactics made her feel insane, and Annabella Sciorra said it made it all the more hard to finally come forward.

More than anything, I hope these revelations put to rest this idea that women should "just speak up". Farrow appeared on "Good Morning America" Tuesday to discuss his latest New Yorker piece and what he calls "an worldwide campaign" on behalf of Weinstein to keep his accusers from coming forward.

Farrow (who also authored The New Yorker's previous Weinstein exposé, published early last month) details the various disturbing tactics deployed by Weinstein's would-be protectors.

Farrow has since appeared on television to break down the "international campaign" Weinstein engaged in to silence his accusers. The producer has lost his company, been kicked out of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and is under criminal investigation in at least three different jurisdictions, with New York City police saying they were developing a strong criminal case against him involving an actress' claim that he raped her seven years ago.

Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Crystal Palace: Son Heung-min scores victor
After the worldwide break, Tottenham will be hosted by Arsenal on November 18 in a Premier League matchday 12 clash. The 25-year-old grabbed his chance, making crucial saves to earn the man-of-the-match vote.
