Carolina Panthers Trade WR Kelvin Benjamin

Kelvin Benjamin Traded to Bills

The Buffalo Bills acquired Kelvin Benjamin in a trade with the Carolina Panthers just before the NFL's trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon.

Bills coach Sean McDermott and General Manager Brandon Beane have great familiarity with Benjamin, having previously worked for the Panthers - McDermott as defensive coordinator and Beane as assistant GM. Despite now making his way to upstate NY as a four-year National Football League veteran, Benjamin has only appeared in three seasons thus far into his tenure atop the highest level.

Benjamin was picked 28th in the 2014 draft by the Panthers and proved to be a shrewd pick in his rookie season, when he caught 73 passes for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns.

Watch Kelvin Benjamin's Buffalo Bills debut against the New York Jets live on Sky Sports Action on Thursday night from 11.30pm. Benjamin missed the 2015 season due to an ACL tear, and this season he is experiencing some pain in that same knee. For comparison, Benjamin has 32 receptions for 475 receiving yards and two scores in that span.

Benjamin had three catches for 39 yards and a touchdown in Carolina's win Sunday against Tampa Bay. The team is already without Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen, who has been on injured reserve since September 19th after breaking a bone in his right foot in during Carolina's Week 2 victory over the Bills.

This post will be updated when we learn what the Panthers got in return.
