USA stocks fall again on North Korea tensions

North Korea on Thursday outlined details for a missile strike near the US territory of Guam, adding fuel to rising tensions with the United States.

In Toronto, the composite index S&P/TSX has lost 143,08 points, or 0.9 %, to close at 15 074,25 points, the decline being nearly generalized to all sectors.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.9 percent to end at 21,844.01, the only close below 22,000 since breaking through that level for the first time August 2.

The technology sector was the biggest weight on the S&P 500 index with a 1.9-percent drop. All the indexes are down for the week. As a result, the yield on the benchmark ten-year note, which moves opposite of its price, is down by 2 basis points at 2.192 percent.

Redskins' Trent Murphy to miss season with torn ACL
Murphy was already slated to miss the first four games of the season after being suspended for violating the NFL's PEDs policy . The 26-year-old recorded a career-high nine sacks in 2016, trailing only Ryan Kerrigan's 11 among Washington defenders.

The New York stock Exchange has chained three consecutive sessions of decline in response in a face-to-face meetings between the United States and North Korea. Utilities eked out a small gain.

"Since these are the stocks that have been in the spotlight the most, they tend to have the most volatility upwards and downwards", said Chris Bertelsen, chief investment officer of Aviance Capital Management in Sarasota, Florida. "As long as it doesn't go beyond just a war of words, this is going to be short-lived".

U.S. President Donald Trump warned North Korea on Thursday not to strike Guam or U.S. allies, saying his earlier threat to unleash "fire and fury" on Pyongyang if it launched an attack may not have been tough enough.

North Korea has made threats against the US for years, but a recent military intelligence analysis found the country has developed the ability to build a small nuclear warhead that can reach the United States.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott ready for 'long battle' over suspension
Elliott will be appealing the suspension and will have the full support of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones throughout the process. The Cowboys are coming off an exceptional season, but will have to figure out a way to replace Elliott.

The market jitters gave investors an opportunity to pocket some of their recent gains after a string of record highs fueled by strong corporate earnings.

The Vix, Wall Street's so-called fear index, spiked last night as tensions between the USA and North Korea continued to escalate. "This really is a profit-taking sell-off".

Technology stocks, the biggest gainers this year, led Thursday's market slide.

"Although we certainly can get a 5 to 7 percent correction, we don't think it's the start of a significant bear market", Peterson noted.

Man Utd: Expect a title challenge from Mourinho's men
He said: "When I joined Manchester United past year I thought immediately that we needed a Matic kind of player". City is much more equipped to launch a sustained title challenge, with Guardiola close to having his ideal squad.

Oil prices nudged lower with global benchmark Brent crude down 0.31%, and USA benchmark West Texas Intermediate down 0.45% recently extending Thursday's selloff following an OPEC report which said the cartel's July production rose 0.5% from June. Brent crude, used to price global oils, added 21 cents to $52.91.
