Ryan: Senate health care bill's CBO score doesn't tell the whole story

That dealt a setback to Republican efforts to repeal major parts of the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.

Most people are focused on how many people would lose insurance under the Senate bill compared to current law: an estimated 22 million, according to the new Congressional Budget Office analysis.

McConnell said Trump has been "very involved" in helping along the Senate bill since it was revealed Thursday. "1 in 5 Mainers are on Medicaid".

All Democrats and Independents are expected to oppose the measure. Moderate Republicans said sections of the bill were too harsh, particularly proposed cuts to Medicaid, the government-run insurance program for lower-income Americans. On the other end of the spectrum are senators including Collins and Heller. While somewhat different than the AHCA, the Senate's proposal has received virtually the same chilly reception from lawmakers concerned about the millions of Americans the law will leave uninsured.

Several other members have been skeptical or quiet about the bill, including Sen.

But minutes before news broke of an imminent delay, the White House scrambled to invite senators to discuss the issues. He also referred to the bill as "an ongoing discussion", and said that several senators wanted more time .

"It's looks increasingly hard for the Senate to get this bill passed", says Demko.

Moderates like Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said she would vote no.

"I think my point man is the president, but you know I really haven't talked to anybody in the Senate leadership, but we're open to negotiation", Paul said.

Johnson was among four conservatives who announced Thursday that they opposed the measure, which would roll back much of President Barack Obama's health care law.

The budget office report said coverage losses would especially affect people between ages 50 and 64, before they qualify for Medicare, and with incomes below 200 percent of poverty level, or around $30,300 for an individual. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, one of the bill's critics, said of the delay. About $33 billion of this would go to tax cuts conservatively averaging $7 million every year to each of the 400 highest-income families in the country. The Senate Republican bill would repeal the taxes, though not all at once. James Lankford of Oklahoma, Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Ben Sasse of Nebraska.

In the United States, it affected companies such as the drugmaker Merck and food conglomerate Mondelez International. The broadcaster published an image of the screen of an affected machine with a message demanding a $300 payment.

But during the Fox & Friends interview, Ryan portrayed pushing people off Medicaid and pricing the poor out of the insurance market as lifting an oppressive burden. That's because standard policies would be skimpier than now offered under Obama's law, covering a smaller share of expected medical costs. States that were critical to Trump's election victory would see sharp increases, even after subsidies, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Wisconsin and MI.

Lie Three: The Senate bill is a "compromise".

To succeed in gutting health coverage for millions of Americans, Senate Republican leaders need to get a series of lies accepted as truth.
