Trump Remains Vague When Asked If He Taped Meetings With Comey

Melania Trump son Barron move into White House

Later in the press conference Trump returned to his "fake news" bashing, joking with President Iohannis "should I take a question from one of the 'killer networks, ' who treat me so badly as fake news?"

Comey did not say that Trump asked him to give his allegiance under oath.

Republican Senator Marco Rubio told reporters: "I don't think anybody would leave this hearing and say to you that what the President said in the Oval Office on the Feb 14 was appropriate. But I did not say that". Who would ask a man to pledge allegiance under oath?

"I didn't say that", Trump told reporters when asked about Comey's account relating to the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn. "And there would be nothing wrong if I did say it according to everybody that I've read today, but I did not say that", he said.

"Comey is a leaker", Trump wrote on Twitter, adding the fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director gave "false statements and lies" Thursday - which would be considered perjury as Comey was under oath. The committee also sent a letter to Comey asking for any notes or memos in his possession about the discussions he had with Trump before being abruptly fired last month.

Shot US Congressman Scalise undergoes surgery
Scalise , 51, was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center suffering from a single rifle shot to the left hip. Scalise underwent a third procedure and second surgery for his gunshot wound Thursday. "He's going to be OK".

"Lordy, I hope there are tapes", Comey said in his Thursday testimony.

His tweet aside, Trump did not mention the Russian Federation probe during an infrastructure speech Friday at the U.S. Transportation Department, but did say he wants people in public service to "rise above the petty partisan squabbling that plagues our nation" and focus on fixing problems.

"Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction of justice", he said. The president said there were things Comey said that "were not true".

While strongly refuting these claims, Trump remained cagey about whether or not he has tapes of his conversations with Comey, which he has suggested that he might. That's an accusation that the House Intelligence Committee, Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey, and other officials all say was made without any factual basis.

The committee sent a second letter to White House Counsel Don McGahn, requesting, as a press release put it, "he inform the committee whether any White House recordings or memoranda of Comey's conversations with President Trump now exist or have in the past".

UK PM May and DUP have largely agreed support deal
The talks revolve around support from the DUP on a vote-by-vote basis in parliament, rather than a formal coalition government. May had called on Parliament to "come together in a spirit of national unity" to deal with the challenges facing the country.

"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication", Mr Trump wrote.

The former FBI director also appeared to confirm Trump's statements that, on three occasions, Comey told the president he was not personally under investigation with regard to Russian Federation.

"Mr Trump also seized on the release of Mr Comey's memos, ".and WOW, Comey is a leaker!" Tom Cotton asked Comey if he would encourage Richman and the Department of Justice to share the memos: "Sure".

Trump raised the possibility he might have recorded his conversations with Comey last month when the president tweeted that Comey "better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations".

Still, the president's lawyer says he'll file a complaint with the justice department, CBS2's Tony Aiello reported.

Trump lashes out at 'bad' Russia investigators
Comey testified in a Senate hearing last week that he believed he was sacked "because of the Russian Federation investigation". Comey's removal will provide us the opportunity to do that on a cooperative, bipartisan basis", according to the letter.
