DUP to support minority government after deal reached

Numerous key cabinet posts have already been declared as unchanged from the previous government, including Philip Hammond as Chancellor of the Exchequer, Amber Rudd as home secretary, Boris Johnson as foreign secretary, David Davis as Brexit secretary and Michael Fallon as the in-charge of the ministry of defence.

However, pressure is growing among Tory MPs for the foreign secretary, Boris Johnson, to challenge May for the leadership.

"You've got to be neutral", he said. May's party won 318 seats, eight short of the 326 they needed for an outright majority.

The strength of any deal looks set to be tested when the Commons meets, with Jeremy Corbyn vowing to try to bring down the Government by defeating May in Parliament and insisting: "I can still be prime minister". Numerous party members are also uncomfortable with the kind of deal that will have to be struck with the DUP, a socially conservative party.

Anand Menon, professor of politics at King's College London, said her lack of a parliamentary majority made it far more likely that Britain would leave the European Union without a deal. "That's not a matter for me", she said.

A failure to get legislation through Parliament could eventually trigger another election. But the ballot-box humiliation has seriously - and possibly mortally - wounded her leadership just as Britain is about to begin complex exit talks with the European Union. "From hubris to humiliation", said the left-leaning Guardian, while the Times headline read: "May stares into the abyss".

Nick Timothy resigns as Prime Minister's adviser
The Times newspaper's front page declared that Britain was "effectively leaderless" and the country "all but ungovernable". Indeed, it is a winding path laden with avoidable pitfalls that has brought the U.K.to this crossroads.

"We are facing a populist and they have realised we need someone who can talk to the people".

On Friday, May declared her intention to lead a government with the support of the Northern Ireland MPs of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) - describing the tie-up as a government of "certainty".

The spokesman indicated this would not be a formal coalition but a minority government with looser DUP support on a "confidence and supply basis".

"The Conservatives have not yet broken the British system of democracy, but through their hubris and incompetence they have managed to make a mockery of it", it said in an editorial.

Many critics, including Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson, have expressed concerns over the DUP's stances against gay marriage and abortion, among other issues.

A Downing Street spokeswoman said: "The Prime Minister has tonight spoken with the DUP to discuss finalising a confidence and supply deal when Parliament returns next week".

Jorge Sampaoli Says Lionel Messi Will Be The Best Until He Retires
Barcelona superstar Messi will marry his girlfriend Antonella Roccuzzo on June 30, with Otamendi's wedding scheduled for June 16. Tite said Brazil had to make better use of their "technical power".

The government does not have long to ink a deal. "I have no doubt at all that Theresa May will continue to serve and work hard as prime minister - and do it brilliantly".

The Northern Ireland peace process is based on an assurance by the British government that it has "no selfish or strategic or economic interest in Northern Ireland".

May needs support in Parliament because the Queen's Speech setting out the Government's programme is due on June 19, with a crucial vote on it expected after a few days' debate.

Speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr show, Mr Corbyn said: "We're going to put down a substantial amendment to the Queen's Speech which will contain within it the main points of our manifesto, and so we'll invite the House to consider all the issues we put forward which I've mentioned - jobs-first Brexit, mention the issues of young people and austerity, there's many other things".

The Survation poll for the Mail on Sunday finds that Labour would win 45% of the vote to the Conservatives' 39%, if voters were sent back to the polls.
