SpaceX Reuses Dragon Capsule To Launch Falcon 9 Rocket

SpaceX makes history launches 1st recycled supply ship

SpaceX launched a reused Dragon capsule for the first time Saturday and returned a reusable Falcon 9 rocket to Florida's Kennedy Space Center.

This marks the fifth time SpaceX has landed a booster back at this pad after launching to space, and the eleventh time it has landed a booster overall - the other landings have taken place on drone ships at sea. The previous attempt, on June 1, was called off about 25 minutes before the planned liftoff due to lightning being reported within 10 miles of the pad less than 30 minutes before launch. Moreover, the Dragon is a refurbished spacecraft.

For more than 16 years, humans have lived and worked continuously aboard the International Space Station, advancing scientific knowledge and demonstrating new technologies, making research breakthroughs not possible on Earth that will enable long-duration human and robotic exploration into deep space.

Col. Walt Jackim, 45th Space Wing at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., said: "We truly have a tremendous team on the Space Coast and it's my honor to be a part of this mission delivering supplies, science experiments and equipment to the International Space Station crew and my friend and Air Force classmate, astronaut Col. Jack Fisher".

Chesapeake Energy Corp (NYSE:CHK) Institutional Investor Sentiment Analysis
Segantii Capital Management Ltd bought a new stake in shares of Chesapeake Energy during the third quarter worth about $3,060,000. The oil and gas exploration company reported $0.23 EPS for the quarter, topping the Zacks' consensus estimate of $0.19 by $0.04.

In March, SpaceX became the first company to launch, land and then reuse the first stage of an orbital-class rocket. "A variant of the Dragon spacecraft, called Dragon 2, is being developed for US -based crew transport to and from the station".

Atop the Falcon rocket is a Dragon capsule loaded with 6,000 pounds of station cargo.

Dragon will stay at the ISS for about a month before returning to earth, and a planned splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. Traditionally, space travel has been the work of governments because corporations have been averse to the daunting risks and astronomical costs involved in space travel.

Stormy weather caused delays for two days for the Falcon 9 rocket launch.

Qatar row: Six countries cut links with Doha
The Saudi-led coalition has announced that Qatar's participation in its joint military operation in Yemen has been canceled. Saudi Arabia is also shutting its border to neighboring Qatar, locking the state out of its only over-land border crossing.

In a move that is becoming almost as routine as the launch itself, SpaceX also flew the Falcon 9 booster back to Earth for a touchdown on Landing Zone 1 at Cape Canaveral.

On September 1, 2016, one of SpaceX's rockets exploded in a fiery blaze.

Joan Johnson-Freese, a space policy analyst at the U.S. Naval War College, said that it evidences the growing importance of commercial space. But considering NASA pays SpaceX about $133 million for each mission, and that price would include the cost of the rocket and the Dragon, the spacecraft is likely worth tens of millions of dollars. It is unclear when the next refurbished capsule will be flown.

SpaceX has re-flown one of these first stages to date. But the company will undoubtedly save a significant chunk of cash by reusing it.

FIFA 'in contact' with Qatar over 2022 World Cup
Media organisations in several regional countries reported the emir's comments as fact, despite an official denial by Doha. The dispute between Qatar and the Gulf's Arab countries started over a purported hack of Qatar's state-run news agency.

"We've invested a significant amount of money that we need to recover", Koenigsmann said.
