Paris climate deal: Trump's decision leaves him isolated

A day after President Donald Trump announced the United States' withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on climate change, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt again added his name to a long list of administration officials who refuse to say whether the President believes the science behind climate change, dodging the question Friday.

Tapping into the "America First" message he used on the election trail, Trump announced the withdrawal on Thursday, saying that participating in the pact would undermine the USA economy, wipe out, weaken national sovereignty and put his country at a permanent disadvantage to others.

"What we have to remember with respect to things like the Paris agreement, is we have nothing to be apologetic about as a country", he said.

Given Mr Trump's record in office, this was predictable, but what it may do is strengthen the resolve of other countries to do more to save the planet.

There was a mix of dismay and anger across the world.

"Climate change is real".

Philippine police say casino attacker was indebted gambler
The crazed gunman who torched a Philippine casino was a gambling addict wallowing in debt - not a terrorist, police said Sunday. The Chinese Embassy has maintained contact with local police and the attacked hotel since the incident happened early Friday.

Germany's Merkel, a pastor's daughter who is usually intensely private about her faith, said the accord was needed "to preserve our Creation".

As Trump's aides explain his decision to leave the agreement - despite protests from members of his own administration, environmental experts, corporate titans and fellow foreign leaders - they have danced around the issue that is at its heart: climate change.

"Americans don't need Washington to meet our Paris commitments, and Americans are not going to let Washington stand in the way of fulfilling it", Bloomberg said following a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo on Friday.

More than a dozen of the largest companies operating in the US banded together to urge Trump to stay in the pact. It said the USA has a "moral obligation" to support poorer countries in the effort against climate change.

The pact was "very unfair" to the United States and beneficial to other major polluters like China and India, the president claimed.

America's President Donald Trump has pulled the trigger on the global climate agreement reached in Paris less than 18 months ago.

US unemployment rate falls to 4.3 percent in May
Cooler hiring may partly reflect the challenge of finding skilled and experienced workers amid a tightening job market. Wage growth is still a relatively subdued 2.5 percent over the past year, with little sign of any upward momentum.

Earlier, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said: "There is no reverse gear to energy transition".

The same poll found majority support for the Paris agreement in every U.S. state, amongst the general voting population. "Shouldn't you be able to tell the American people whether or not the resident still believes that climate change is a hoax?".

Here's how Conway, a counselor to the president, responded: "The president believes in a clean environment, clean air, clean water".

A number of figures from US industry expressed their dismay at Trump's move. "Industry must now lead and not depend on government".

Environmental activists in Bosnia, one of the poorest European countries, said they were anxious the Trump's move would empower global polluters. "I'm not a believer in man-made global warming". Tesla and Disney's CEOs Elon Musk and Bob Iger quit Trump's economic advisory council in wake of the decision. He's stated that human activity impacts the climate, but the degree of that impact isn't certain.
