Will leave Paris climate deal -Axios

Angela Merkel, the current Chancellor of Germany, specifically mentioned how other G7 countries lobbied Trump to keep America in the Paris Agreement, which was implemented to cut back on carbon emissions.

Trump told leaders at the G7 group of nations in Italy on Saturday that he would make his decision over whether the U.S. continues to back the climate landmark agreement within the next week.

That tweet set a timeframe for the United States to quickly reconsider its original position, contained in the G7 communique, of abstaining from the pact.

Trump's first trip overseas provided him with a sense of the strong European support for the deal and, by proxy, the opinion of almost every other head of state across the globe.

President Donald Trump is "wide open" on the Paris climate accord as "he takes in the pros and cons", U.S. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said in an interview to air Sunday.

Rival militias clash in Libyan capital, leaving 28 dead
Relying on militia support and pitted against a rival administration in the east, the GNA has struggled to assert its authority. The health ministry was not able to say if civilians were among the dead but reports suggested most casualties were fighters.

The summit of Group of Seven wealthy nations pitted Trump against the leaders of Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Canada and Japan on several issues, with European diplomats frustrated at having to revisit questions they hoped were long settled.

White House Director of Strategic Communications Hope Hicks answered a question regarding Trump's decision with, "I think his tweet was clear".

German Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters Saturday, "The whole discussion about climate has been hard".

G7 leaders also found agreement on other points, such as backing closer co-operation against terrorism after the concert bombing Monday in Manchester that killed 22 people. "Had great meetings on everything, especially on trade", Trump said on Twitter on Saturday, Efe news reported. Plus, support for climate action is far reaching, with everyone from CEOs to Pope Francis calling for the U.S.to lead.

But Gary Cohn, Trump's economic adviser, on Friday said the president had told his G7 colleagues that he regarded the environment as important.

President Donald Trump has said he will decide whether to withdraw from the Paris accord climate change deal in the next week. This will put him in an opposing role against the climate change pledge.

"Never came up", Cohn said when asked if the subject were discussed.

A Canadian government official who spoke to reporters about the 30-minute conversation between Trump and Trudeau on the condition of anonymity said that while the two leaders also spoke about global security, they did not discuss intelligence-sharing. "Any decision on climate change would ultimately be based on what's best for the United States".
