NASA to reveal details on its first mission to touch sun

On Tuesday afternoon, the SDO saw something much more simple than solar irradiance fluctuations or extreme ultraviolet variability - the moon blocking out the sun in a solar eclipse only visible from the satellite. Scientists involved in the program will hold an announcement at 11 am on Wednesday May 31, revealing new insight on the mission that could one day answer questions on the mechanisms behind stars and major space weather events. The moon covered about 89 per cent of the Sun at the peak of its journey across the Sun's face. The moon will completely cover the sun and block the sunlight, casting a shadow on the Earth.

The images taken by SDO looks so wonderful because the sun, moon and the satellite were nearly perfectly aligned. They reveal solar activity or atmosphere of the sun in a remarkable detail. Peer closely at the image, and you may notice the subtle, bumpy outline of these topographical features.

As the moon's edge seems smooth during these images, it's really quite uneven.

The crowd gave him a standing ovation as he climbed from his vehicle . "I didn't miss Monaco in terms of result, you know". In the closing dozen laps, ex-Formula 1 driver Max Chilton led the way and was closely followed by Castroneves .

Another lunar transit will occur later this summer on August 21, wherein the moon will only barely hide part of the sun. Throughout the remainder of The United States - as well as areas of South Usa, Africa, Asia and europe - an incomplete eclipse is going to be visible.

Repeatedly, the united states space agency has released videos and pictures from the lumionous body spewing solar material and oozing plasma on its surface, making one question the other secrets the very big ball of fireside might be holding.

By using NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter along with NASA's topographical data of Earth, visualizers can map the next eclipses with high precision. According to the study, the umbral shape varies with time, and is not simply an ellipse, but an irregular polygon with slightly curved edges. It will fly within four million miles from the Sun, which is seven times closer than any other spacecraft has been to the Sun.

In other words, this was far from the best that we have seen from these teams in their run to the conference final. We weren't afraid of the playoff stage. "For an inexperienced team from Day 1, that's a good sign moving forward".

The SDO was launched in 2010 by Nasa to monitor sunspots and solar activity.

The announcement event will be held at the University of Chicago's William Eckhardt Research Center Auditorium, and will be livestreamed on Nasa TV.

The information then enables researchers understand the impact of Sun's atmosphere, solar flares and high-energy particles on Earth and near-Earth space and also helps them find ways to protect the planet from the potential damaging effects.
