Man dies in California botulism outbreak from nacho-cheese

The San Francisco County coroner's office said the person who died was a 37-year-old man.

In an unfortunate turn of events in Sacramento around 9 people are believed to have contracted botulism after eating nachos from a gas station just outside Sacramento after an innocent bid to satisfy pangs of hunger.

The investigationAn FDA spokeswoman confirmed Monday that the agency is assisting public health officials at the state and local levels in California with the outbreak investigation, but she did not provide any details. It started last month after a few customers who'd eaten Valley Oak Food & Fuel's nacho-cheese sauce suddenly ended up in the ER.

The Germantown company says it retested samples from the lot of cheese linked to the outbreak and that it's clear of contamination.

"It's not a good thing, little town like this, you'd think they'd be more on top of it", Walnut Grove resident Johnny Sticks said.

James and Cavaliers beat Celtics, set up rematch against Warriors
After a stout finish to Game 4, Irving came out firing in the second half of Game 5, and scored the Cavaliers' first 11 points. It could also help the Warriors get that bad taste out of their mouth from their collapse in last year's series.

The poisoning is rare; only 15 food-borne cases of botulism were reported 2014.

In a statement, the California Department of Public Health said that testing confirmed the presence of botulism toxins in the cheese sauce that matched the toxins found in those sickened.

Foodborne botulism is spread through ingesting food that has been contaminated through not been properly processed or stored, according to health officials. A fundraising page that had been set up to raise money for his recovery indicates that he was a husband and father of two children, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The store was ordered to cease all prepared food sales on May 5, and on May 8 a state public health officer seized four bags of the cheese sauce, an inspection report shows.

Consumers can find more food-safety information on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website. The majority of botulism patients never fully recover.

As a result of the sense of crisis enveloping the Oval Office, Trump is said to be weighing changes at the uppermost ranks of the White House.

Botulism is caused by a toxin secreted by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

The toxin can spread in foods that are not processed or stored properly, and is odourless and colourless, making it hard to detect.

Symptoms of botulism include blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech and muscle weakness.

The bacteria that cause botulism release a crippling nerve toxin that has left Kelly so debilitated that she can not speak or even open her eyes.
